If you’re planning an event, check out Heritage Hall! Our building features a variety of spaces to suit the needs for any event, from board meetings to weddings, graduation parties to memorials, we can help you plan your next gathering, large or small.

Space will be released for the next calendar year on July 1 of each year. For example, on July 1, 2019, space will become available for January 2020 - second week in August 2020.

GRAND BALLROOM

Capacity: 200 people (Banquet style), 170 people (Theatre style)

Features: Audio equipped, two HDMI projectors

With stunning views of Downtown Kalamazoo, the ballroom is the perfect large meeting space that can also be easily transformed into an elegant backdrop for weddings and upscale events. There are two seating options to accommodate your guest list. This room is audio equipped and features two HDMI projectors and screens.

Grand Ballroom Wedding

 

GRAND LAWN

Capacity: N/A 

The grounds surrounding Heritage Hall offer the perfect, flexible location for your outdoor event. This includes the Portico overlooking Downtown Kalamazoo, the Oakland Overlook, and the area near the North Hall facade. The Grand Lawn is beautifully landscaped and features several gardens and ample paved walkways. 

Monday-Friday: $1,500   Saturday: $3,000

FLETCHER & KOCHER CONFERENCE ROOM

Capacity: 6 people

Features: Conference phone with 16 lines 

These rooms feature abundant natural light and views of downtown Kalamazoo in addition to the essentials for small meetings, including 16-line conference phones and HDMI screens.

Fletcher Conference Room

 

CAFE

Capacity: 52 people

Features: Bar and serving area

This open space features a cafe/bar and a variety of seating. The bar area is equipped with a sink and refrigeration making it the perfect serving area for caterers and food/beverage service. With views of Downtown Kalamazoo and abundant natural light, the Cafe features a variety of bar seating, table seating, and living-room seating.

MILLER BOARD ROOM

Capacity: 24 people

Features: Conference phone with 16 lines, audio equipped, HDMI projector, glass dry-erase board 

This executive-style board room features all the amenities for your next important meeting. Richly appointed interiors include a granite-inlaid conference table, granite sideboards, a glass dry-erase board, and views of WMU's main campus. This room is audio equipped with a 16-line phone and HDMI projector.

Miller Board Room

 

ZHANG FINANCIAL ROOM

Capacity: 25 people 

This space offers the warmth and elegance of a library or den. Decorated with authentic Italian leather furniture, this space features cafe-style and living room-style seating, high-end finishes, and the limestone fireplace salvaged from North Hall.

Zhang Financial Room

 

HALL-ARCHER-PICKARD CONFERENCE ROOM

Capacity: 14 people

Features: Conference phone with 16 lines, audio equipped, HDMI projector, glass dry-erase board

This room can comfortably accommodate mid-sized meetings and gatherings, featuring a large multi-piece conference table, a 16-line conference phone, an HDMI projector, a glass dry-erase board, a sideboard/counter area, abundant natural light, and views of Downtown Kalamazoo.

STATE/UNIVERSITY HIGH CONFERENCE ROOM

Capacity: 14 people

Features: Conference phone with 16 lines, audio equipped, HDMI projector, glass dry-erase board

This room can comfortably accommodate mid-sized meetings and gatherings, featuring a large conference table, a 16-line conference phone, an HDMI projector, a glass dry-erase board, a sideboard/counter area, abundant natural light, and views of Downtown Kalamazoo.

  • Please fill out an event request form found on this website. A representative from Heritage Hall will contact you regarding availability and contracts. If your event is quickly approaching, please contact Sonja Dotson, the Building Coordinator and Event Planner, directly at (269) 387-8775.

  • Wedding packages include the ballroom, cafe, and grand lawn for $1500 on Friday evenings and $3000 on Saturdays.

  • The Office of Development and Alumni Relations invites all alumni, Bronco fans, and the Kalamazoo community to begin their WMU visit at the newly-renovated Heritage Hall Alumni Center! Revisit your Bronco past at the birthplace of the University, learn about what’s new on campus and explore the University’s past and present accomplishments!

    Visitors are always welcome to take a self-guided tour during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Self-guided tour maps are available at the Welcome Desk.

    REQUEST A TOUR
  • We recognize that Heritage Hall offers a variety of ideal backdrops for photographs, whether it is for weddings, school groups, or other special occasions. We kindly ask that you first contact our building coordinator and event planner, Sonja Dotson at (269) 387-8775, to ensure the building and grounds are not closed for a private event. Priority will be given to those who have reserved the building or grounds; other parties may not be able to enter the property for photography during private events.  

  • WMU parking services owns and monitors lot 1 near Heritage Hall. The lots are monitored 24 hours a day Monday through Friday until Friday at 4 p.m. Outside of those times, guests do not require a WMU permit to park in Lot 1. If you are hosting an event during a time when the lot is monitored, there may be a fee for parking depending on your event. Please contact Sonja Dotson, the Building Coordinator and Event Planner, at (269) 387-8775 for more information regarding parking.

  • Yes, there are eight contracted caterers for Heritage Hall. All events serving food or beverages must use one of our six designated caterers. Events coordinated by WMU offices and departments MUST contact WMU Catering for first right of refusal. The six designated Caterers are: WMU Catering, Fetzer Center Catering, Catering by Mekell, Mangia Pizza and Pasta Co.,Food Dance, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Millennium Catering, and Radisson Catering.     Please note that we cannot accommodate for paper or plastic products (plates, cups, cutlery, etc.) or boxed lunches. 

  • Heritage Hall can provide the appropriate number of banquet tables and chairs for events in the ballroom. All furniture in the building is available for use by guests, however, it may not be moved. No furniture provided by Heritage Hall can be taken outside of the building. Cocktail tables, dance floors, specialty banquet chairs (such as Chiavari chairs), etc. must be rented through a vendor external to WMU. 

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to book events on WMU football home game days. Until the football season schedule is announced, Fridays and Saturdays during the football season will be reserved and not available for rental. Once the schedule is announced, dates with away games will then become available for rental. The football schedule for the upcoming season is typically announced in March.

  • Heritage Hall is open for events from Monday through Saturday, except for days when the University is closed. Visit the WMU calendar for more information regarding University closures. All outdoor events must conclude by 10 p.m. The building is open to the public from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that the WMU Office of Development and Alumni Relations is in the building during these hours.

  • Western Michigan University’s campus is addressed as 1903 W Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49008; mailstops (the four digits following the zip code) are used to determine specific departments, buildings, and offices on campus. Heritage Hall uses the mail stop 5403. To mail something to Heritage Hall, please use the following address:
