If you travel along Campus Drive in the Parkview Campus on October 7, 8 and 9, you’ll encounter a unique way to participate in Western Michigan University’s Giving Day: Bucks for Broncos. College of Engineering and Applied Sciences’ students, staff, and faculty will collect cash donations from drivers as they enter and exit the Business, Technology and Research Park.
“We want to provide a fun, new way for our neighbors in the BTR Park to support our students,” says Holly Blanks, a college marketing specialist. “All money raised will go towards supporting our students. Whether it’s for hardship scholarships, new whiteboards in study spaces, or additional tutoring – the funds will assist the next generation of engineers.”
Engineering creativity will be on display as donors drop their contributions into giant light bulbs designed by Allin Karhl, a machine shop specialist with the Engineering Design, Manufacturing and Management Systems Department. Karhl printed his design on the college’s 3-D printer.
Donations will be accepted at the corner of Campus Drive and Parkview Avenue on:
- October 7 and 8 from 7 to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 4 to 6 p.m.; and
- October 9 from 7 to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Donations can also be made online.
