Dr. Frank Gambino Student Leadership Scholarship

 

Dr. Frank Gambino Student Leadership ScholarshipIn recognition of Dr. Frank Gambino’s many contributions to the success and growth of the Food and Consumer Packaged Goods (FCPG) program, Western Michigan University is establishing an endowed scholarship in his honor. The scholarship will be awarded to outstanding juniors or seniors pursuing food marketing degrees. 

Prior to joining the WMU faculty, Frank spent 15 years in the food retailing industry. His teaching, research, and consulting interests are in the management and marketing of the food distribution system, category management and applications of business technology, and sales training. 

A frequent speaker and trainer, Frank has remained active with a diverse group of food industry organizations at both the national and regional level. He has been a judge and master of ceremony for the NGA Creative Choice Awards since 2001 and also judged the NFRA Golden Penguin Awards. 

In addition to research and teaching activities, Frank serves on the Board of Directors for Spartan Stores in Grand Rapids, a Fortune 500 company, and the Retail Site Development Advisory Committee for Wakefern Food Corporation’s Board of Directors of Elizabeth, New Jersey. He is secretary to the WMU Food Industry Advisory Board, and in 1999 was awarded a WMU Teaching Excellence Award. In the past, Gambino was a member of the board of directors of Alliance Foods and the Food Distribution Research Society. Additionally, he has served on several national and regional advisory groups.
