The Gerard W.J. and Madeline Tremblay Endowed Scholarship

A scholarship established in 2012 by their son, Christopher W. Tremblay, Ed.D.
The Gerard W.J. and Madeline Tremblay Endowed Scholarship
In graduating with his Doctorate of Education from the University of Michigan in 2014, Christopher W. Tremblay (BA '94; MA '99; Ed.D.) wanted to honor his parents, Gerry and Madeline, with a tribute.  This scholarship was created for students in the WMU School of Communication, where Christopher earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations in 1994 and his master’s degree in organizational communication in 1999.

Christopher was the first in his family to earn a four-year degree.  Gerry earned an associate degree from Macomb Community College and Madeline graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan.  While neither continued in their education, it was important for Christopher to pursue advanced studies, never imagining that he would go on to earn a doctoral degree.

The Gerard W.J. and Madeline Tremblay Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship honors all first-generation college students and all parents who assist in their sons' and daughters' college education.  Christopher was fortunate that his parents had saved money and were able to pay for his undergraduate degree at WMU.  This scholarship honors their legacy, Christopher’s educational achievements, and pays it forward for future generations to come.

Christopher serves as Associate Provost for Enrollment Management at WMU and previously worked in the WMU Office of Admissions and Orientation in multiple roles.
