The WMU Foundation is a 501c(3) tax exempt organization, tax ID #38-2138856, and is committed to respecting and preserving the privacy of all donors, including those who make pledges on the Internet. The information on this site is collected by the WMU Foundation and stored on servers provided by WMU. Only authorized employees of the WMU Foundation and systems support employees from WMU will have access to the information we collect on this Web site. You have access to the information we collect and you may supplement or correct any information you supply. Please contact Lynda Hunt, Director of Development Accounting, if you would like to review or correct the information.
The information you supply to the dedicated WMU e-commerce server is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. We use firewall technology and other internal security systems to prevent “hackers” from gaining unauthorized access to any WMU servers. We do not retain the credit card information you supply during an online gift transaction. Credit card numbers are never on WMU servers, only TouchNet servers. A unique transaction number is received from TouchNet and stored by the WMU Foundation for each online transaction.
All transaction information is digitally encrypted and sent to TouchNet, where it is relayed via secure networks to a credit card processing company. The credit card processing company verifies the transaction with the credit card company and transfers the specified funds from the VISA, MasterCard or Discover lender to the banking merchant account established for online gifts to the WMU Foundation.
The information collected on this Web site is not sold or supplied commercially. The WMU Foundation may provide information to you about the WMU Foundation and other University activities.
Information required for the credit card transaction is stored by TouchNet, the credit card processing company, and your credit card company with strict policies for protecting privacy and maintaining security. The WMU Foundation encourages you read the privacy statement that appears on the TouchNet website as well. Our Internet link with TouchNet is protected by the encryption that was described above. The process during a transaction whereby TouchNet and your credit card company store information is similar to the process and information stored any time you use your credit card.
Congress recently enacted COPPA. This Web site is not intended to be used by minors and the WMU Foundation will not accept donations from minors on this Web site. If individuals would like to make donations or pledges in the name of a minor arrangements can be made. Please contact Lynda Hunt, Director of Development Accounting, if you would like to make a donation in the name of a minor.
The WMU Foundation is committed to monitoring how our online donation process works for you—the user. We encourage you to send your comments, complaints and suggestions to us so that we can improve our system and service. Please send your e-mail to Lynda Hunt.
