As of January 27, 2015, the project is 42% complete.
Ongoing projects include restoration of masonry on the exterior of the building.
In the last two weeks…
A great deal of restoration work was done, and the building is beginning to look finished in some areas. The emergency generator was delivered to the site and set, and fire protection installation began on the first floor. Structural steel for the west and south additions were erected, and masonry shear walls were completed at the north addition. Lintels, which are typically load bearing, decorative, and found at the tops of doors and windows, are being replaced.
In the following weeks…
The attic will begin to see new drywall, and concrete will be graded and placed on the ground floor. Restoration of the lintels will continue, as will implementation of fire protection systems. The building may see its first installation of stairs, pending placement of concrete on the ground floor.
The next post will examine the inside plans for the completed building, and an explanation of the spaces within the center such as the ballroom, library, portico, and other meeting spaces.
