The site continues to be very active. Within the next two or so weeks the scaffolding encasing the building will be removed, making the new windows and repaired masonry visible. Around the same time, concrete work for walkways around the exterior of the building will begin.
Inside the building, windows continue to be installed, dry walling is nearing completion, and the fireplace salvaged from North Hall is being installed into the library area.
Interior Finishes:
Julie Lenczycki is a Project Interior Designer for WMU who was part of the team that developed the theme for the building’s interior. She explained that when mapping out the final look and feel of the building, they needed to strike a balance that is true to WMU’s history, durable enough to withstand use, and utilitarian to accommodate the needs of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and as an event center. The overall goal is for the building to make a grand, historically rich statement.
