The internationally acclaimed ArtPrize is kicking off in Grand Rapids, Mich., and at least 18 entries are from WMU alumni or current students, and eight from WMU faculty members. Three square miles of Grand Rapids are taken over by art for 19 days. Artists from around the world enter their art in hopes to capture a Grand Prize, and spectators from just as far travel to view the ‘highly disruptive and undeniably intriguing’ event.
In 2014, 1,536 entries will be displayed across 174 venues to capture $560K in prizes. ArtPrize opens Wednesday, Sept. 24 and closes Sunday, Oct. 12. To learn more, please visit artprize.org.
