Nick L. Stanage (BS ’85, Mechanical Engineering) is Chairman, CEO & President of Hexcel Corporation. Before joining Hexcel as President in 2009, Stanage was President of the Heavy Vehicle Products group at Dana Holding Corporation and earlier held a number of technical, operational, and general management roles with Honeywell, Inc. (formerly AlliedSignal Inc.). Early in his life Stanage worked as a potato farmer in Cassopolis, Mich.

Hexcel Corporation is a leading advanced composites company with locations around the globe and more than $1.6 billion in annual revenue. They provide composite solutions to commercial aerospace, space & defense, and Industrial markets worldwide based on a 68 year history of innovation. By 2013, the company landed in the top 20% of public aerospace companies. And, a Bronco is at the helm.

Stanage, who also received an MBA from Notre Dame, says the strength of Hexcel lies in its incredibly focused and committed team of 5,400 employees who partner with customers worldwide to solve their most pressing technical challenges.

“We’re just getting started,” Stanage says. “I believe in getting the best team in the world together, setting the vision and direction, and getting out of their way. I believe in empowering people to do the best they can.”

Hexcel’s advanced carbon fiber solutions are stronger than steel, lighter than aluminum, and don’t ever corrode–providing aerospace, defense, and industrial manufacturers with materials to make their products stronger, lighter, and more efficient.

“Our vertical supply chain—from fibers to weaving to “prepregs” (carbon fiber product forms infused with resin systems) to finished products—allows us to deliver a full suite of solutions for our customers. It’s our breadth and technical depth that gives customers like Airbus the confidence to make us the sole source provider of composite materials for the new A350 primary structure,” Stanage said.

Hexcel also produces an industry-leading product range of honeycomb core materials that are sold directly, or shaped, before being combined with other product forms to create end products, such as aircraft fairings and helicopter rotor blades. Their industry-leading technologies and relentless innovations spanning carbon fiber, resin systems, prepregging, tooling, and part production allows Hexcel to serve their customers exceptionally well.

Across eight different countries, Hexcel currently has 18 manufacturing locations, but that number is expected to grow as the company continues to expand rapidly.
