Meet the WMU Alumni Association Board: Jeff Winkler (B.S.’02)

Involvement on Campus: Sigma Chi Fraternity

Hometown: Tecumseh, Michigan

Current Location: Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan

Current Position: Vice President, Wealth Management Trimaran Advisors of Raymond James

Favorite campus memory:
Without a doubt meeting my wife Jodi McKay. I will never be able to thank Chris Hyldahl enough for introducing me to Jodi. I knew she was special from our first date at a Sigma Chi date party and 17 years of marriage later I cannot imagine life without her.

Jeff's Story

My journey to the board began a year or two ago when my wife Jodi Mckay (also a WMU alumni and whom I met while at college) and I began exploring funding a scholarship for students at WMU on the autism spectrum. This was an amazing process and we were reminded of just how special and important the time we shared in Kalamazoo was. This also led to a conversation with other alumni, specifically DeRondal Bevly, who at the time was just finishing up his second term on the board. Jodi and I have known D since college and have always trusted and respected his opinions and advice. It was through him that I learned more about what the role of the board was and how I could help reconnect others like myself to this amazing University.

Family

I am so excited to connect with other Broncos around the country. For those that have lost touch, I want to reconnect them with the University. For those interested and able to give back, I want to tell them how amazing the process is and it is a legacy that you leave forever. For those just graduating, I want to find better ways to keep them connected, better than we were able to. Lastly, for those with children considering colleges, I want to show them all of the positive changes since we were in school and how WMU can also give their kids a world-class education.
