Musical Bronco Goes Global
When it comes to music, the world has seen some incredibly talented composers. Countries like Germany, Italy, and England have given us some of the most cultural and influential music the world will ever see, and a select few get to study abroad and learn more about these legendary artists. Fewer actually get the opportunity to have their music presented in these countries, and Bronco Adam Lenz (BA ’12, Music Composition; MA ’13, Music Research) is one of those few.

The Parchment School District recently featured Lenz for his musical success. Lenz attended school in Parchment, which borders the City of Kalamazoo.

Lenz has had his music presented all across the United States, but he isn’t confined between the east and west coast. Lenz has presented overseas in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Romania, Japan, and Mexico. And it doesn’t stop there—Lenz has had the opportunity to collaborate with artists from Mexico, the UK, Romania, Poland, Germany, France, Iceland, Lithuania, Greece, Austria, Italy, and Canada.

Lenz has been involved in numerous projects, including going to Armenia to do research on the country’s composers, and then to Mexico to do the same with contemporary classical music. He was also involved in the creation of a radio drama; a project with which Lady Gaga was also involved. The radio show will premiere in June on German, Austrian, and Swiss radio.

This is not the only time Lenz has worked with the world-renowned pop star. Lenz was working in Paris as a sound consultant for an abstract video portrait project that included Lady Gaga.

When Lenz isn’t traveling with pop stars, he keeps fairly busy and is currently working on a few projects; a harp and percussion ensemble in Iceland, a multimedia installation project with a poet from Mexico, and an abstract short film.

Lenz said that these opportunities have not come easy, and it has been more work than he ever imagined.

"As an emerging artist, I'm not at a point where I have anyone to help me build my career,” Lenz said in his interview with the Parchment School District. “In addition to my artistic work, I have to be a businessman, a researcher, a publicist, a producer, a public speaker, etc.”
