Charles Klass  (BA ‘62, Paper Technology & Mathematics) joined the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) while still a student at Western Michigan University. After over 50 years of membership, Klass values the organization for its networking experiences and opportunities to improve interpersonal, management, and communication skills. 

Klass is the President of Klass Associates, Inc., where he provides consulting services within the paper, pulp, and allied industries. Since 1999 he has been adjunct professor at WMU in the Paper Engineering and Imaging program. 

A trustee of the Paper Technology Foundation at WMU since 1993, Klass has been honored as a Paper Technology Foundation Fellow (2002) and was elected to the Paper Technology Hall of Fame in 2008. In 2012, he was honored by the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences as part of their Alumni Excellence Academy. In addition, he has been honored by his industry on numerous occasions.
