A showcase of talent from WMU's internationally recognized music program will perform for the benefit of Student Scholarships on Sunday, October 7. The 3rd Annual WMUsic Showcase Spectacular will begin at 3 p.m. in Miller Auditorium.
Students, faculty, and ensembles in the School of Music will take the stage to support music student scholarships, including: The University Grand Chorus and Percussion Ensemble performing "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana, a Vietnamese Ensemble led by new ethnomusicology faculty member Alexander Cannon, and a string ensemble featuring faculty violinist Renata Artman Knific and resident artist ensemble Merling Trio.
Student ensembles performing include the Bronco Marching Band, Gold Company, University Symphony Orchestra, University Chorale, University Symphonic Band, University Concert Band, GC II, Cantus Femina, KLOrk (Kalamazoo Laptop Orchestra)- pictured, and the WMU Jazz Nonet. The family friendly concert will also include a surprise or two.
The WMUsic Spectacular is produced by Michael Wheaton, director of GC II.
