In early July, WMed began receiving applications through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS), and after only one month, has received more than 2,100 applicants. The inaugural class of 50 medical students at WMed will begin in a little over a year in the Fall of 2014.

Of those applicants, nearly 750 have been invited to submit a supplemental application that will ask potential students about their life experiences, personal attributes, and academic metrics that reflect the value a student brings to the medical school learning community. Applications will be accepted through November, 2013.

If applicants  completed their undergraduate degrees from WMU or K College, they may be a little more likely to find themselves as students at WMed. It was announced in mid July that WMed has established preferred relationships with both institutions, and is seeking to admit students from the schools.
