During Western Michigan University's 93rd Homecoming weekend, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations will hold the Guinness World Record attempt at Most Vow Renewals in the same place at the same time. As of Friday, October 7, one day before the attempt, nearly 1,500 couples registered to help break the record.

The current record is held by Miami University (Ohio) with 1,087 couples. They broke their record on June 20, 2009.

Fun Facts

• Participants hail from 21 states and three countries (U.S., Canada, and Japan).

• Nearly 1,500 couples have registered as of October 7. 

• We have alumni participating from class years 1943 through 2016.

• The longest married couple celebrated their 65th anniversary this year.

• Our most notable couple renewing their vows will be President John M. and Linda Dunn.

• Seven couples celebrate their golden anniversary in 2016.

• Eight couples celebrate their anniversary on October 8.
