Homecoming Week is here and there are a number of activities planned throughout the week that will be fun for students, families, alumni, staff, and friends—including an attempt to break a world record and a race through campus. Check MyWMU.com/homecoming for a listing of Homecoming weekend events and read below to learn more about some of the exciting activities of the week. 


The 2013 Homecoming Court is pictured. A new king and queen will be crowned at halftime of the Homecoming game. Click here to learn about the 2014 court. 

The 16th annual Campus Classic will kick off the final day of Homecoming activities. Last year, about 1,800 people participated in the 1K Fun Run and Walk and the 5K Run and Walk that snakes through campus. The annual Parade of Nations occurs before the start of the Homecoming game in Waldo Stadium and features members of the campus community bearing flags from the home countries of our international students. This year, attendees could see as many as 100 flags, as WMU’s international enrollment now includes more than 1800 students from 100 countries. Soaring international enrollment may impact Parade of Nations-- Read more here

The College of Aviation is currently celebrating 75 years of aviation education and will hold a gala on Friday, October 24 at the College of Aviation located in Battle Creek. On Tuesday, October 21 community members are invited to Kanley Track to break the world record for most people wearing sunglasses in the dark. On Friday, October 24 a student organized pep rally will begin at 7:30 p.m., directly after the annual ‘yell like hell’ contest at 6:30 p.m. Homecoming weekend is also Family Weekend, and there will be a number of special activities and discounts for parents and family members of WMU students. The big game will kick off at 2 p.m. in Waldo Stadium. The 4-3 Broncos will take on the Ohio Bobcats for WMU’s 91st Homecoming football game. Kickoff Time for Homecoming vs. Ohio Set at 2 p.m. Read more here

On Friday, October 24 Hockey and Women’s Soccer will have home games. On Saturday, October 25 Bronco Hockey will hit the ice after the football game. Women’s soccer plays at home on Sunday, October 26. Visit wmubroncos.com for more information. 

WMU University Theatre presents ‘Cymbeline’ beginning Friday, October 24. “Complete with kings, gods, emperors, banished heroes, headstrong daughters, mistaken identities, lost princes, and evil stepmothers, Cymbeline mixes familiar elements from all of Shakespeare’s plays to create an epic fairy tale of love, jealousy, revenge, and redemption.” Click here for more information and tickets. 

Downtown Kalamazoo is getting in on the fun by hosting WMU Spirit Week. Retailers, restaurants, and businesses will participate in a decorating contest to be judged by the public.
