Welcome Week '13

Some 3,100 brand new Broncos arrived on campus for Fall Welcome Week at the end of August, and 200 existing students volunteered to be on hand to help them move in to the residence halls. Five hundred international students from 90 countries also arrived during Welcome Week. Faculty and staff, who also wore welcome buttons all week, were encouraged to volunteer their time and knowledge of campus to help all new Broncos get assimilated to their new homes.

The four-day Fall Welcome program was designed to help new students' academic and social transition to college life. After moving in, students participate in tours, after-dark activities, orientation sessions, Stadium Night, a Matriculation Ceremony followed by Buster's Buffet, activities in Downtown Kalamazoo, and much more.

Many of the events are run by students, Fall Welcome Ambassadors. These upper class student leaders volunteer their time to serve as peer leaders for small groups of first-year students.

Fall Welcome is part of the larger FIrst-Year Experience Programs, which include orientation and the first-year seminar. To learn more about the Office of First-Year Experience, please visit the website:
