Western Michigan University news and update highlights from around the web for June 14 - June 20, 2013. This week's campus photo features a first-year student  orientation group stopped in front of Sangren Hall. This summer, some 8,000 people—including transfer students, incoming first-year students and their families—are expected to attend orientation sessions.

While attendance is mandatory for all incoming first-year students, it is not for transfer students. Different orientation sessions are designed to meet the needs of each group, and parent and family orientation sessions are available as well. Orientation sessions began in early June and wrap up in early July with several later dates available for transfer student sessions.
