Western Michigan University news and update highlights for July 25 – 31, 2014. This week’s campus photo features a new sculpture on Parkview Campus, “Between Theorems.” The sculpture depicts Albert Einstein throwing a Frisbee, and was created by Montana artist Jim Dolan. Associate Professor of computer science, Dr. John A. Kapenga and his wife, Karen Woodin, saw the sculpture at the 2012 Grand Rapids Art Prize and decided to gift it to WMU to be installed near the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Future plans include installing LED lighting and solar energy panels near the statue.
The sculpture is now known as a mascot for the High-Performance Computational Science Laboratory. To read more about “Between Theorems,” please click here.
