Western Michigan University news and updates for November 28 – December 4, 2014. This week’s campus photo features the area between the Chemistry Building and Waldo Library in the summer. The Finch Greenhouse, located in Wood Hall and part of the Department of Biological Sciences, works with Landscape Services to provide an array of plants used all over campus throughout the year. Built in 1997, the greenhouse was the result of a generous donation from Francis and Geraldine Finch of Schoolcraft, Michigan. The 5,000 state-of-the-art facility is maintained as a permanent conservatory collection and provides quality plants for laboratory instruction and research.
The greenhouse also partners with the Office for Sustainability to provide space and resources to begin vegetable seedlings for the community garden, and early plantings.
