Western Michigan University highlights and alumni in the news for April 29 – May 5, 2016. This week’s campus photo features The Little Theatre, located on East Campus at Oakland Drive and Oliver Street. Dedicated in 1942, the structure was originally intended to serve all of the University’s (then known as the Western Michigan College of Education) theatre and production demands. Known at the time as simply ‘The Theatre,’ the space has also been referred to as The Oakland Recital Hall. In 1997, the 194-seat theatre was renovated.
For the 2016 season, downtown Kalamazoo’s Farmers Alley Theatre temporarily relocated to The Little Theatre due to construction.
