Western Michigan University news and updates for September 12 – 18, 2014. This week’s campus photo features the new student food pantry on WMU’s campus. The pantry opened at the beginning of the fall 2014 semester to help meet critical unmet needs for students. Part of the Invisible Need Project, the pantry is open to any student who faces the difficult decision of going without food to be able to afford to stay in school. The project also established an emergency relief fund, so students can have access to funds in situations where they may not be able to stay at WMU due to finances. In recent years, the number of campus food pantries has risen to accommodate a growing population of both ‘traditional’ and ‘non-traditional’ students over-burdened by a lack of finances. The Consider It Dunn campaign is also selling T-shirts for $10 to support the fund. To learn more, please click here.
