WMU’s Fourth Giving Day Boasts $2.3 Million in Donations

Alumni, fans, faculty and staff at WMU united on Wednesday, April 14 to raise $2,371,996 in just 24 hours.

It’s the largest total of dollars ever raised on Giving Day at the University. Gifts were made by 1,735 individuals from all 50 states across the country, and from as far as New South Wales, Australia.

Powered by YOU, the WMU community raised funds that benefit every area of campus from student scholarships, to research, to athletics and everywhere in between. More than $1 million was gifted to scholarships and financial aid for students in programs across the University.

The College of Fine Arts had the most dollars come in at just over $1 million, and athletics saw the highest number of donors at 453. The top 10 leading designations that were given to throughout the day included the Safe Return to Play Fund, The Fund for Western, the WSA Social Justice Fund, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, The Department of Military Science and Leadership, WMU Student Scholarships, The Invisible Need Fund, Alumni and Friends of ROTC Cadet Fund, The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and the Bronco Athletic Fund.

Additionally, $36,000 was awarded through challenge funds throughout the day, boosting the fundraising efforts for more than 30 different designations across campus. Check out the winners here.
