As they were preparing for their upcoming graduation, Western Michigan University seniors majoring in dance have been working on a fully student-produced concert, Jitter Tolerance.
This concert showcases the diverse choreography of Bachelor of Fine Arts students Michele Rosemann, Jesse Hoisington, Connor Cornelius, Julie-Ann Gambino, and Veronica Woods. The BFA graduating seniors have been working together to raise funds, promote, and create a concert of professional quality. Jitter Tolerance showcases the seniors' choreographic capabilities as well as the skills they have acquired to fully produce a concert.
Associate Dean of the Lee Honors College and Chair of the Department of Dance, Jane Baas believes the concert “…is [a] culminating project that enables BFA students to weave together all they have learned about dance technique, choreography, production, and management during their studies at WMU into a final concert.”
Jitter Tolerance premieres six new dances. The five seniors will each present their individual, innovative choreography and then perform a commissioned work, In Comparison the Individual Rises, by Chicago-based choreographer Joshua Manculich. This was made possible thanks to Partners in Dance, a community support organization for the Department of Dance at WMU.
All performances will be held in Studio B, on the 3rd floor of the Dorothy U. Dalton Center on WMU’s main campus. Shows will run April 10 - 12 at 8:00 p.m. and April 12 and 13 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission and $5 for students. For more information, visit the Miller Auditorium website or call the box office at (269) 387-2300.
The BFA seniors would like to invite all guests to attend a reception on Friday, April 11 following the performance.
