Western Michigan University news and update highlights for July 12- 18, 2013. This week's campus photo features an aerial shot of the James W. and Lois I. Richmond Center for Visual arts, taken from the tenth floor of Sprau Tower. Completed in 2007, the Center is located near Fountain Plaza and Miller Auditorium, and is partially composed of three large gallery spaces:
- Albertine Monroe Brown Gallery is for temporary exhibitions.
- Rose Netzorg and James Wilfrid Kerr Permanent Collection Gallery is for special exhibits from the University Art Collection.
- Eleanor R. and Robert A. DeVries Student Art Gallery is dedicated to student and alumni work.
These extensive galleries allow the Frostic School of Art to showcase a year-round calendar of events exhibiting regional and national works by modern and contemporary artists, both new and internationally recognized.
The Richmond Center offers the opportunity for extensive interior and exterior installations as well as state-of-the-art digital, audio and video presentations, and performance art. The Richmond Center is uniquely positioned along with dance, music, and theatre as part of the College of Fine Arts to illuminate the community with a broad range of unprecedented exhibitions and educational experiences.
Several of the spaces are available for event rental. To learn more about the Richmond Center for Visual Arts, please click here.
