Western Michigan University news and update highlights for February 21 - 27, 2014. This week's campus photo features a not-so-recent view of Lee Honors College and Rood Hall. Currently under a blanket of snow, the area features some of the many tree species found on campus.
The Arbor Day Foundation recently announced that WMU has again been named a Tree Campus. This is the sixth consecutive year WMU has earned this status. In a related story, botany students used DNA sequencing to identify 29 dwarf hackberry trees on campus—a now scarce species for the area. They include the tallest known dwarf hackberry in existence.
