Western Michigan University news and update highlights for March 21- 27, 2014. This week's campus photo features the Chemistry building. Located on Main campus between Waldo Library, Knauss Hall, and the Dalton Center, the building is connected to Wood Hall by a pedestrian bridge. Additionally, an underground tunnel was constructed between the Chemistry Building and the Dalton Center loading dock for easy delivery of services and utilities, and also to preserve the green space in the center of campus.
The building is lined with a spacious sidewalk, enhanced with seating and landscaping, that connects with the Dalton Promenade at the south end of the building. The Promenade, renovated as part of the Chemistry Building project, continues down the slope to the plaza in front of Miller Auditorium.
The Chemistry building was completed in 2007 and has 83,331 square feet over four floors. The classroom facility includes three auditoriums, usable for both for chemistry and general education instruction, chemistry teaching labs, and spaces dedicated for use by student groups.
