Alum Flying High!
Aaron Trombley graduated from WMU’s College of Aviation in April of 2004 (BS ’04). Post graduation, Aaron spent the next year and a half working for the college as a Certified Flight Instructor. In November 2005, he was hired to come on board with American Eagle Airlines. So Aaron transplanted his family from Kalamazoo, Mich. and headed to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas where he began flying a CRJ-700 aircraft. As many pilots do, Aaron moved on from the CRJ-700 to the ATR-72-212A, a 66 seat turbo-prop. He’s flown to some pretty cool destinations on that aircraft including San Juan Puerto Rico, Nassau, Bahamas, St. Maarten, and even Holguin, Cuba! He’s also flown from coast to coast in the U.S. and all the way down to Mexico.

Today Aaron can be seen flying an Embraer EMJ-145 jet (pictured) — an aircraft, which comes in various sizes from 37, to 44 and 50-seat versions — and Aaron flies them all! He’s now a First Officer and will likely upgrade to Captain in the next year or so. Next time you’re flying in or out of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas on an American Eagle flight — make sure to ask if your pilot is a WMU alumnus. Chances are he just might be!

While at WMU, Aaron was also a part of the Sky Broncos — WMU’s award winning, precision flight team. Check out some of these stories from his time at WMU.
