A New Dean
Dan J. Martin (BA '76, Communication; Music Theatre Performance) now has the prestigious distinction of being able to call himself the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University. In early July, it was announced that Martin had become the new Stanley and Marcia Gumberg dean and professor in the college.

He is now responsible for all programs, departments, and schools within the college, which include: Architecture, Art, Design, Drama, and Music. He had served as the interim dean for the last two years.

Martin, a professor in both the Heinz College and the School of Drama, joined CMU in 1992. He has served as associate dean in both the CFA and the Heinz College. As director of the Institute for the Management of Creative Enterprises, he has led the Master of Arts Management program (a collaboration between the Heinz College and CFA), the Master of Entertainment Industry Management program, and the Center for Arts Management and Technology programs.
