In Loving Memory - Alexandra Burgett
Alexandra Burgett was a senior majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Services at Western Michigan University when her life was cut short in May 2012 by an automobile accident caused by a distracted driver. She was employed with Residential Opportunities Inc.; a non-profit organization that provides group homes for children and adults, and after she graduated, Burgett was planning to continue with ROI at the new Great Lakes Center for Autism Treatment and Research.

The Alexandra Burgett Scholarship Fund at Western Michigan University was created by her parents, Mark and Molly, to honor their daughter and celebrate her life. As a result, current students at Western Michigan University will benefit.

On Aug. 9, a golf outing at Washtenaw Country Club in Ypsilanti, Mich. will raise funds for the scholarship. The event will include a round of golf and dinner, both of which are available to be purchased together or separately. The golf outing will feature a $5,000 cash prize for anyone who gets a hole-in-one (to be split evenly between the winner and the scholarship fund), as well as awards for longest drive, and closest to the pin. Participants will also have the opportunity to bid on several silent auction items, and enjoy a live performance from The Dale Hicks Band; a Michigan based rock band.

Anyone who can’t attend the event is welcome to make a donation to the scholarship fund.
