The father/daughter team may not be able to see each other often during their seasons now that Melissa is in college, but they make sure to keep in close contact. Melissa commented that her dad “knows her swing better than anyone.” Ron has never missed a tournament—and says that he never will.
Melissa began playing golf at an early age—largely due to her father’s involvement in the sport. Melissa had a knack for it and improved over the years, landing her a spot on the Bronco team. After two years of collegiate play she shows great promise—her average dropping from 79.8 in 2010 to 78.4 in 2011.
Ron recently participated in the 2012 Senior PGA championship in Benton Harbor—his first showing at the Senior PGA tour.
Though Melissa is consistently improving she still knows that her dad can best her in a head-to-head 18 holes—she’s getting closer, but he’s the one with more experience.
