The community is invited to an open house at the renovated building which is the new home of the Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine’s W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus. The event is Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. No advance registration is required.
On main campus, Welcome Week drew new students to WMU a week early to begin their transition to college life. The Office of Development and Alumni Relations was on campus to capture move in and many of the various activities including Stadium Night, pictured above, where new students gather on the field of Waldo Stadium with various WMU 'celebrities.'
MyWMU also visited the Parent and Family Hospitality Tent, Rec Center Night, Western Wednesday T-shirt Swap, the Matriculation Ceremony, and Buster’s Buffet. All events are geared toward getting students acquainted with campus prior to the start of the semester. FAST (Future Alumni Support Team) also had a hand in Welcome Week, with several events intended to get students involved; DiscoverWMU and Speed RSOing.
Over the course of the week, new students and their families were introduced to MyWMU, and they liked what they saw. More than 1,500 new connections were made across MyWMU’s social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest. Students also have the chance of winning an exclusive MyWMU Tshirt for connecting and interacting with MyWMU on social media.
