Alumna at World Street Hockey Championships

Alumna at World Street Hockey Championships
Eileen Meslar (BFA ’11, Art) is in Zug, Switzerland from June 22 - 28 to represent the USA in the World Street Hockey Championships. She and her friends and teammates are the very first Chicago area players to be selected to compete on the USA national ball hockey team.

Meslar fell in love with hockey at a young age while playing at a local youth ball hockey league in a Chicago suburb near her home. After aging out of the league, she learned how to skate so she could continue to play hockey, and played Triple A girl’s ice hockey throughout high school.

When it was time to select her college, Meslar chose Western Michigan University in large part because it offered a women’s ice hockey team at the time. She made the WMU Mustangs her freshman year, and continued until the end of her college career. During that time, she served as president of the organization for three years and captain of the team for two years.

In 2013, she returned to ball hockey and took a Chicago women's team to a tournament in Massachusetts. After learning about the American Street Hockey Institute (ASHI) USA Women's Team, she attended the national team tryout and was selected for the USA women’s program. She participated in four training camps and competed in multiple national tournaments in preparation for World’s.

The schedule for the Women’s USA Team and game updates are cane be found here.  All the games will be live-streamed here
