Her first novel was published after she won a contest with Thomas Nelson, a Christian books publisher. 'Spring for Susannah' came out to good reviews. The book is about a mail order bride in the Dakota Territory who struggles to keep her faith in the face of frontier living.
As an author, she fits into the niche of Christian Romance, but is perhaps more accurately described as Inspirational Historical Romance. Richmond's research process is thorough, you can read more about it on her website (link found below).
This year Richmond's second novel, 'Through Rushing Water', was released by Thomas Nelson. It tells the story of a young woman, jilted, who ends up in 'uncivilized' 1870s Dakota Territory as a missionary to the Ponca Indian Agency.
Richmond currently lives in Omaha and likes writing about historical periods. She said sometimes she even gets ideas from her patients at Bergan Mercy Medical Center.
