Richard Sanchez (Ed.D '72, Educational Leadership) is retiring from a long career as an educational leader, most recently as President of Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.

During his tenure at Navarro, enrollment grew dramatically— in 2007, Navarro was named the fastest growing two-year college in the nation. Sanchez completed his bachelor degree at Northern Arizona University and became a public school teacher in Arizona and California. After finishing a master's degree at California Polytechnic State University, Sanchez came to Western Michigan University to complete his doctoral degree and then went back to California Polytechnic to become a professor of education. While there, he also served as associate dean to the School of Human Development & Education.

Sanchez served in administrative positions at Santa Barbara City College, and the College of the Sequoias before joining Grossmont College where he served as president and acting chancellor. In 1998, he became the President of Navarro College. At retirement, Sanchez has served our educational system for 50 years.
