Flagstar CEO to Speak on Campus
As CEO of Flagstar Bank, Alessandro DiNello  (BBA ’75) has played a critical role in strengthening the bank’s risk management, compliance and quality control. Prior to his current position, he was president and chief administrative officer of Flagstar Bank, and for a number of years, executive vice president of personal financial services.

DiNello, president, CEO and director of Flagstar Bank and Flagstar Bancorp, will be the first speaker in the 2014-15 Distinguished Speaker Series, hosted by WMU’s Haworth College of Business. DiNello will speak on Thursday, October 23 at 5 p.m. in Schneider Hall 2000, giving a presentation titled “How Western Shaped My Life,” followed by a question-and-answer period.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in accountancy, DiNello began his banking career as a bank examiner and later joined Security Savings Bank in Jackson, Michigan, where he ultimately served as president. In 1994, Security Savings was acquired by First Security Savings Bank, which later became Flagstar Bank. He continued with the combined organization as an executive officer responsible for growing the bank’s funding sources.

During his career at Flagstar, DiNello has served as head of branch banking, retail product strategy, marketing, communications, Internet banking and branch expansion. He also led the bank’s government affairs and community relations initiatives.

His industry and professional affiliations include serving on the boards of directors of the Business Leaders of Michigan and the Michigan Bankers Association. Previously he served on the Michigan Electronic Recording Commission as an appointee of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

The October 23 presentation is free and open to the public. RSVP at wmich.edu/business/rsvp-dss or contact (269) 387-5069 or cyntia.reeves@wmich.edu. Free parking is available in lot 72R.
