The competition recognizes men and women in the healthcare industry who have been deemed the most influential by the readers of Modern Healthcare. Lloyd Dean (BS ’72, Sociology; MA ’78, Educational Leadership) is the president and CEO of Dignity Health; a California based not-for-profit healthcare system with facilities across the United States. Dean is on the ballot for the most influential people, and the voting ballot will be open through June 13.
Dignity Health is the fifth largest healthcare system in the nation. Dean works on behalf of Dignity Health to improve the healthcare landscape and act as an advocate for the impoverished, and has been nationally recognized for his leadership in the community.
Dean started as a teacher after excelling at WMU, and eventually became the assistant Regional Manager at Upjohn. From there he became the Executive Vice President for the entire company. Among his achievements, Dean has also been known to rub elbows with the President of the United States as well as the President of the San Francisco Giants.
