Marin Mazzie (BS '82, Theatre) is preparing for her next big role, this time as lead in the Broadway musical adaptation of Bullets Over Broadway. A musical comedy, the show focuses around a play. In an interesting twist, Mazzie will lead the cast as Helen Sinclair—Sinclair is the leading lady in the show within the show.
Mazzie, who has enjoyed Tony Award nominations for Passion and Kiss Me, Kate, will take the stage with Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee, Zach Braff in his Broadway debut.
Previews will begin March 11, and the show will open April 10 at St. James Theatre.Â
Bullets Over Broadway is a 1994 Woody Allen film set in the roaring 20s that features a struggling playwright looking to get a play produced, who is left with no choice but to cast the talentless girlfriend of a mobster in his show.
In 2000, Mazzie was honored by Western Michigan University with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
