Jones grew up in Detroit and dreamed about going home to play a role in rebuilding the city.
It is estimated that half of the city's 88,000 lights are out. His first task is to engage the city by holding public meetings to determine which lights needs to be fixed first. Jones will also lead an effort to determine which areas require simple repairs and which require complete upgrades.
Jones left his role in Cincinnati as the city's economic development director and has held a number of administrative positions in Ohio, New Jersey, and Iowa.
