Organize Anything

Organize Anything
Chris Nylen (BBA '85, Marketing)  knew he wanted to do something other than work in the banking industry, and the the idea finally came to him as he prepared for his MBA. He only ended up taking one class—the class that taught him how to develop a website for his organization and storage business. In 1997, he began installing closet organization systems—in 1999, Nylen, along with his wife Doenie (BBA '85, Industrial Marketing), opened a showroom for their business— Organize-It.

Over the years, the business has grown at such a rate that it has been moved to larger spaces more than once. Today, Organize-It has a retail location in Shelby Township, Michigan, a large warehouse, and a highly popular website for orders worldwide. What began in closets has grown to include storage and organizational solutions for all parts of the home and office—nearly 10,000 products. The website even  allows customers to set their display options to include only items that are made in the U.S.A.

Chris and Doenie were married in 1989 and have two children—both currently attending WMU. Brad, a sophomore, plays on the WMU club lacrosse team and is studying business. Kylie, a freshman, plays on the WMU women's varsity soccer team and is currently undecided in her studies. Doenie continues to work as an accountant.
