Mr. Bouton, who attended WMU from 1957 to 1961, was a major league baseball pitcher for eight seasons. In 1964, he won 18 regular season games plus two World Series games for the New York Yankees.
He is the author of the best seller Ball Four and two other sports books. He was a television sportscaster in New York from 1970 to 1976. Following a baseball comeback with the Atlanta Braves in 1978, he became a self-employed businessman.
