Mr. Miller attended WMU in the 1930s. A merchant marine during World War II, he was a staff writer for Reader's Digest and wrote over 200 stories and thirteen books.
His biography of Dr. Charles Steinmetz was named "Book of the Year" by the National Education Association in 1962 and his book, "Ahdoolo" was named one of the distinguished biographies of the year in 1963.
The society of Professional Journalists honored him for distinguished service to journalism and the American people in 1974.
