Joan Huber, M.A. '63

Joan Huber, M.A. '63

Dr. Huber received a doctorate from Michigan State University in 1967. She taught at the University of Notre Dame before joining the sociology department faculty at the University of Illinois in 1971.

She was named head of that department in 1979. An author and researcher, she is a past president of the American Sociological Association.

She was named dean of the college of social and behavioral sciences at Ohio State University in 1984 and was appointed provost in 1992.

Katharine G. Butler, B.A. '50

Dr. Butler received a master's and a specialist's degree from WMU and a doctorate from Michigan State University. She was a professor of speech-language pathology and audiology and later dean of graduate studies and research at San Jose State University.

In 1979, she was named director of special education and rehabilitation at Syracuse University, where she later directed a center for language research and chaired the communication sciences and disorders department.

William F. Pickard, B.S. '64

Dr. Pickard earned graduate degrees from both the University of Michigan and Ohio State University. In 1971, he purchased and operated several McDonald's Restaurants in Detroit.

Since 1985, he has also served as chairman and chief executive officer of Regal Plastics Company.

Over the years, he has served on numerous corporate, educational, political and civic boards and committees on both the national and state level.
