Dr. Quay received master's doctoral and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. He was a research fellow ad instructor of pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
In 1980, he joined the faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine. He holds twenty patents, including one for Omniscan, the world's first non-ionic MRI contrast agent.
In 1991, he founded Sonus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to commercialize novel diagnostic pharmaceuticals involving ultrasound.
