Mr. Loving received a master's degree from Wayne State University. He taught high school in Detroit and later joined the college of education faculty at the University of Michigan, where he also served as assistant dean.
A Fulbright scholar, he was an exchange professor in India and the first dean of students at the University of Nigeria.
He was president of the National Association for Supervisions and Curriculum Development and was awards an honorary degree by WMU in 1964.
