Carolyn Opthoff Sutter, M.S. '72

Carolyn Opthoff Sutter, M.S. '72

Ms. Sutter served as director of libraries and museums as well as director of telecommunications in Long Beach, California, before being named general manager of the city's Tidelands Agency in 1982.

In this position, she initiated and managed all coastal development, oversaw all oil production, and was responsible for a $500-million annual budget. She is the author of a book on telecommunications and several articles on management and budgeting.

Mr. Malott joined Parker Hannifin Corporation as chief value engineer in 1969 and later served as general manager and vice president for international marketing.

In 1981, he was hired by the Ransburg Corporation as group vice president for its domestic operations. Three years later he assumed the position of president and COO.

Holder of eleven U.S. patents, he was named senior vice president and COO of Siemens Energy and Automation, Inc. in 1986 and president and CEO in 1989.

Timothy G. Lewis, B.S. '59

Mr. Lewis began his career as an elementary school art teacher in the Portage (Michigan) Public Schools. After three years in the U.S. Army, he joined the staff of Push Pin Studios in New York.

In 1969, he became a freelance illustrator and designer. His illustrations have appeared in most national magazines, including New York and Forbes and his work has been featured in numerous exhibits.

He also served on the faculty of The School of Visual Arts and Parson's School of Design.
