Daniel R. Smith, B.B.A. '55

Mr. Smith joined the trust department at what is now First of America-Michigan in 1955. Having risen through the ranks at the bank, he was elected to its board n 1974 and two years later was named president.

In 1983, he was named president of First of American Bank Corporations and was elected chairman and CEO in 1985.

A retired captain with the U.S. Army Reserve, her presided of the Michigan Bankers Association and is on the board of the American Bankers Association.

Jack Ryan, B.A. '48

Dr. Ryan earned a master's degree from Emory University and a medical degree from Wayne State University. He began his career as a family practitioner and was later president of a 21-person multi-specialty group practice.

In 1969, he was named chief of staff of Detroit-Macomb Hospital Corporation and also served as vice president before being named president and CEO in 1977.

He has held leadership positions for various state and national professional associations.

Janette Miller Sherman, B.S. '52

Dr. Sherman received a medical degree from Wayne State University in 1964. Following a variety of postgraduate training opportunities, she entered private practice.

A nationally recognized specialist in internal and occupational medicine, she is the author of a book and numerous articles.

As a result of her ongoing research in occupational and environmental health and toxicology, she has been a consultant for several governmental agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency.
